Total ice accumulations of a light glaze. * WHERE...Anchorage north to the Matanuska Valley, west of Wasilla including Houston and Big Lake. * WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 3 PM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Water flowing over snow and ice packed surfaces and a light glaze of ice on road surfaces could lead to hazardous travel conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of freezing rain will develop tonight. The best chance for steady freezing rain and development of a glaze of ice will be overnight tonight through the morning hours. Temperatures will warm above freezing in Thursday afternoon and precipitation will become all rain before tapering off in the evening. The northern to western Susitna Valley will remain colder and could see some light snow accumulation. Rainfall totals of 0.50" to 1.00". * WHERE...Valdez up to Thompson Pass. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 9 AM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Water flowing over snow and ice packed surfaces could lead to hazardous travel conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Another round of rain will arrive in Valdez this evening and continue through Thursday. Temperatures will be above freezing for most if not all of this time period. Thus, do not expect freezing rain and ice accumulation like last night. However, rain falling on to and running across existing icy surfaces could lead to hazardous walking and driving conditions. For Thompson Pass, expect a wintry mix of precipitation, with snow, freezing rain, and rain all possible. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches, mainly north and west of Glennallen. Ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch, mainly south of Glennallen. * WHERE...Copper River Basin. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 1 PM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Steady precipitation will arrive in the southern Copper River Basin early this evening and quickly spread north and west across the basin during the evening. Precipitation will start out as snow most places, but will quickly transition to freezing rain for the southern basin, including the Edgerton Highway corridor and Glennallen Highway toward Thompson Pass. Precipitation intensity may lighten up overnight, but another round of heavier precipitation will move through Thursday morning, followed by gusty southeasterly winds.
