...STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND PERIODS OF RAIN FOR THE WESTERN KENAI
PENINSULA LATE TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING...

A strong storm system moving toward southern Alaska will bring
strong gusty winds and light rain to the western Kenai Peninsula.
Here is what to expect:

* East to northeast winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts of 35 to 60 mph,
strongest in the Kachemak Bay area, the hills north of Homer,
and through channeled areas of the Kenai Mountains.

* Winds will peak between 3am and 9am Tuesday.

* Rain will develop in the Kachemak Bay area around midnight and
spread northward to the Soldotna and Kenai areas overnight.
Precipitation could start as snow for areas north of Homer, but
rapid warming will lead to a quick changeover to rain. Areas of
light rain will linger through mid morning Tuesday.

* Temperatures will warm into the lower to mid 40s by Tuesday
afternoon and remain above freezing for most of the region
  through Wednesday afternoon.
