Spot Forecast for Nelchina Glacier Fire...SOA DOF
National Weather Service Anchorage AK
1012 AM AKDT Tue Jul 8 2025

Forecast is based on forecast start time of 1000 AKDT on July 08.
.DISCUSSION...
Updated to add isolated wet thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

An unstable airmass is lingering over the forecast area today,
therefore any additional sunshine in the afternoon hours could lead to
further surface heating and result in a redevelopment of scattered
showers and a slight chance for a wet thunderstorm for late this
afternoon and evening. As the storm moves east today, winds through
Chickaloon and Tahneta Passes are expected to increase, possibly
reaching all the way to Eureka and the fire location for late this
afternoon and evening. While there is low confidence in the gusty
winds reaching all the way to the fire location, occasional wind
gusts near 20 mph cannot be ruled out this afternoon/evening.
Clear and dry conditions will prevail for Wednesday as temperatures
climb back into the lower 60s with min RH values falling into the
lower 40 percent range.
