An area of low pressure will shift from central to eastern South
Dakota this morning, bringing a wintry mix of precipitation to the
area, lightest over north central South Dakota. Over north central
South Dakota, cold enough air will result in mainly snow. A glaze of
light icing from freezing rain will be possible this morning, mainly
near the North Dakota and South Dakota border between the Missouri
River and James River. Snowfall amounts of around an inch or less can
be expected through early evening, with higher amounts of around 1
to 2 inches over McPherson, northern Brown, and Marshall Counties.

Dry high pressure will then settle across the Northern Plains through
Saturday, with dry weather continuing through at least early next
week.

Temperatures today will be in the upper 30s to low 40s, before
dropping into the teens to near 20 degrees tonight. Highs Saturday
will will range from near 40 degrees over northeastern South Dakota
and and western Minnesota, to the upper 40s and low 50s west of the
Missouri River. Much warmer air will settle over the region by the
middle of next week.
