.DISCUSSION...

An area of moderate to at times heavy rain will persist through the
morning hours across portions of central South Dakota and most of
northeast South Dakota and west central Minnesota. The rain will
taper off by mid morning across central South Dakota and closer to
the midday hours across the James Valley. Showers will linger across
the northeast corner of South Dakota and west central Minnesota
through the afternoon. Heaviest rainfall of 1 to 2 inches will be
possible across far south central South Dakota into parts of east
central South Dakota. Lesser amounts than that are expected across
north central and northeast South Dakota into west central
Minnesota.

Cloudy skies today along with this rainfall will keep a lid on
temperatures. Highs this afternoon will remain steady in the upper
50s to mid 60s east to the mid 60s to low 70s west. East to
southeast breezes will turn gust at times during the midday and
afternoon hours with strongest winds ranging between 25-30 mph.
Minimum relative humidity values will remain high between 70-80
percent.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.


The outlook for Saturday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
