.DISCUSSION...

A cold front sweeps through the region today with a trailing upper
trough. The front will bring showers and thunderstorms. Some of the
storms may be strong to severe this afternoon, mainly along and east
of the James Valley. Min RH remains above 40 percent.

Drier and cooler air is expected for Saturday as smoke from Canadian
wildfires also returns. Min RH will fall to around 25 percent along
and west of the Missouri River with higher values east.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.


The outlook for Saturday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
