Very High fire danger today both during and prior to a cold front`s wind shift. Southwest winds potentially gusting to 25 mph, combined with relative humidity values below 20 percent, will create near critical fire weather conditions early this afternoon. These southwesterly winds are expected to quickly switch to the northwest behind a cold frontal passage this afternoon. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday. By early next week, some of the coldest air of the season is expected to be filtering into the region. Widespread low temperatures both Sunday night and Monday night could be below freezing. This would signal the end of the growing season for 2024 over central, north central and northeast South Dakota and west central Minnesota. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... South to southwest winds potentially gusting to 20 mph, combined with relative humidity values between 20 to 30 percent, will result in elevated fire weather conditions this afternoon. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.
