.DISCUSSION...
Today will be similar to yesterday. The burn area will be on the
periphery of shower and thunderstorm coverage, with most storms
expected north of the burn area. If showers or storms move into the
area, it will occur late this afternoon or early this evening, with
light showers potentially persisting until midnight. If the burn
area takes a direct hit, one to two tenths of rainfall is likely.
Outflows from nearby storms will impact the area with occasional
gusts near 35 mph this afternoon and evening. Chances for wetting
precipitation improves Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with the best
moisture arriving Monday night as front pushes across the area.
Through this period, the burn area may receive upwards of one inch of
rainfall. Temperatures will cool through Wednesday, then will remain
relatively steady through the end of the work week. After Wednesday,
drier air will begin to push into western NM which will decrease
precipitation chances across the burn site.
