Southwesterly winds with very low humidity persist this hour, with observed gusts reaching 15 to 20 knots in the vicinity of the fire. Surrounding more exposed locations have seen gusts reach 30 to 40 knots in Belen and Albuquerque. Virga showers producing more erratic gusts in nature have thus far focused north of the fire toward Albuquerque and the Sandia Mountains. Prevailing southwest winds will begin to lessen by 6pm to 7pm before turning westerly to northwesterly 7pm to 9pm MDT. Cooler temperatures and higher moisture arrive to the fire location tonight into Saturday morning as chances for showers steadily increase. The best chance for precipitation reaching the fire location will be mid-to-late Saturday morning through the afternoon. Winds will be notably less Saturday, but more erratic in directions.
