An unseasonably strong ridge of high pressure will remain over the Desert Southwest for the next seven days with a continuation of record or near record high temperatures. There will be some brief cooling over eastern areas Sunday, behind a gusty backdoor front that will surge through the northeast and east central plains tonight into Sunday morning. Some models suggest the front will push through gaps in the central mountain chain with a gusty east canyon wind in the central valley potentially as early as Sunday morning. Otherwise, critically low minimum humidities will impact most lower elevation locations today, then mainly those west of the central mountain chain Sunday through Tuesday. Humidities will trend upward mid week.
