Showers and thunderstorms will continue to favor northern NM today. A backdoor front will move into northeast NM on Monday, increasing moisture and the potential for additional thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening. The front will push through the gaps of the Central Mountain Chain Monday evening, producing a strong gap wind in the Rio Grande Valley. This will set the stage for widespread showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday. Each day will have the potential for heavy rainfall and gusty outflow winds. Drier air will begin to nudge into western NM on Thursday shifting the monsoon plume over eastern NM for the end of the week. ................................................................
