Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms will favor western, central, and northern NM again today. More widespread erratic gusts will result from this than isolated wetting footprints. An influx of monsoonal moisture arrives into the state Friday and Saturday bringing widespread showers with embedded thunderstorm activity. There will be an increased risk for flash flooding where stronger thunderstorms reach poorly drained areas and recent burn scars, but this threat will depend on whether skies can clear during the morning hours. Much cooler temperatures spread across eastern NM behind a cold front Friday, staying cool there Saturday. Drier and warmer conditions return to western NM Sunday and Monday with higher moisture holding onto eastern NM. ................................................................
