A ridge of high pressure will remain over the Desert Southwest through the end of the work week keeping high temperatures over the forecast area several degrees above 30-year averages. An exception will be near average high temperatures today over east central and northeast areas behind a backdoor cold front. The front will push through gaps in the central mountain chain with east canyon wind gusts up to around 30 mph from Santa Fe southward from late this morning through early this evening. The week ahead will feature critically low minimum humidities each afternoon in many lower elevation locations with a chance for gusty afternoon and early evening virga showers in parts of the northern and western mountains Tuesday and Wednesday. Humidities and precip chances look to increase from the west Saturday.
