...FLOOD WATCH WILL EXPIRE AT 6 AM MDT EARLY THIS MORNING...

The Flash Flood Watch will expire for portions of east central and
northeast New Mexico, including the following areas, in east central
New Mexico, Curry County, De Baca County, Guadalupe County, Quay
County and Roosevelt County. In northeast New Mexico, Eastern San
Miguel County, Harding County and Union County.

The flash flooding threat has ended. Therefore, the Flash Flood
Watch will expire at 6 AM MDT early this morning.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON MDT TODAY THROUGH THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, and northeast New
  Mexico, including the following areas, in central New Mexico,
  South Central Mountains. In north central New Mexico, East Slopes
  Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Southern Sangre de Cristo
  Mountains. In northeast New Mexico, Northeast Highlands.

* WHEN...From noon MDT today through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Thunderstorms will produce locally heavy rainfall, with rates
    of up to 2 to 3 inches per hour, over the Hermits Peak Calf
    Canyon burn scar and Ruidoso area burn scars this afternoon
    and evening. There is a high risk for flash flooding on and
    below the burn scars, with the risk peaking between 2PM and
    7PM MDT.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
