...HIGH FLOWS IN THE SAN JUAN, ANIMAS AND LA PLATA RIVERS...

Rainfall from earlier in the week across northwest New Mexico and
southwest Colorado has led to high water levels and substantial
flows in the San Juan, La Plata and Animas rivers. Most rivers
observed a crest, or peak level, early Wednesday morning with flows
slowly starting to slowly decrease and trend down.

However, water levels are still near bankfull within these rivers,
and it will be well into Thursday morning before rivers levels drop.

For your safety, stay away from the banks of these rivers. Erosion
will make the banks unstable and this fast running water could
easily sweep away those distracted near the bank of the river. Avoid
any recreational activities on these rivers through Thursday morning.

Expect rises and impacts to nearby roads and low water crossings. Do
not drive through water of unknown depth. The road may not be intact
below.
