.UPDATE...
Issued at 1200 PM CDT Tue Jul 9 2024

Enhanced cumulus field was developing south of I-20 this
afternoon and a few thunderstorms were developing in Coleman and
Brown counties. Added afternoon thunderstorms to the forecast
south of I-20. These afternoon heating thunderstorms should be
fairly brief, but may quickly produce a half in of rainfall.

.SHORT TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 240 AM CDT Tue Jul 9 2024

Satellite imagery continues to show some patchy mid level
cloudiness drifting southeast across the Permian Basin and into
the Concho Valley and Edwards Plateau early this morning, with a
few light showers occasionally developing. This mid level
instability axis will continue to move south through the day,
with CAMs showing some isolated convection developing this
afternoon across the area mainly along and south of I-10 from
Ozona to Sonora. Will continue to carry small POPs for today.
Otherwise, warmer and dry today with highs a few degrees warmer
than what we saw on Monday. Highs mainly in the low to mid 90s
expected.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday through Monday)
Issued at 318 AM CDT Tue Jul 9 2024

The long term forecast will be characterized by near normal
temperatures each afternoon and only slight rain chances. Our area
will be situated between an upper level ridge over the western
U.S. and another ridge axis over the southeastern U.S and northern
Gulf of Mexico. With a weak shear axis overhead cannot rule out a
few showers and thunderstorms mainly across our western counties
on Thursday. Otherwise, expect predominately dry conditions. Highs
will top out in the mid to upper 90s each afternoon, with some
spots hitting the century in the Big Country and Concho Valley.
