Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service San Angelo TX
542 AM CDT Fri Jul 19 2024

...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 310 AM CDT Fri Jul 19 2024

The weak cold front/outflow boundary that caused the showers and
thunderstorms yesterday for southern areas, has made it near or
south of Interstate 10 in our area. Although the front will be
near the southern boundary of our CWA, very little activity is
expected to develop in our area. An isolated shower or two will be
possible over the Northern Edwards Plateau, but coverage is not
expected to be enough to warrant a mention in the forecast.
Otherwise, look for light east/northeast winds, partly cloudy
skies, and temperatures warming back up into the 90s across the
majority of the area today, with upper 90s possible in the western
Big Country and Concho Valley areas. The quiet weather will
continue through tonight, with lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday through Thursday)
Issued at 310 AM CDT Fri Jul 19 2024

An upper trough will hang over West Central Texas into next week.
Rain chances will be on the increase Sunday into Monday as a weak
cold front moves into, and washes out over the region. The
potential for localized heavy rainfall will also increase Sunday
and Monday as precipitable water levels increase to 1.5 to
inches. Storms will also be slow moving as steering winds aloft
will be weak. Temperatures will also decrease, with highs in the
mid and upper 90s Saturday (with 100 in the Concho Valley),
falling into the upper 80s to lower 90s Sunday and mid and upper
80s Sunday.
