...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT ORANGE...SOUTHERN
GRANVILLE...NORTHWEST WAKE...DURHAM... AND SOUTHWEST FRANKLIN
COUNTIES THROUGH 615 PM EDT...

At 537 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Durham. This thunderstorm was drifting to the northwest at 5 mph.
This storm was one of a cluster of storms stretching across the
Triangle region.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, Creedmoor, Wake
Forest, Carrboro, Butner, and RDU International.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Dont wait until you see the first lightning flash before heading to
safety. Move indoors at the first sign of threatening skies or the
first sound of thunder. Deadly lightning strikes can occur well ahead
of an approaching storm, prior to the arrival of rain and wind. Make
sure that lightning is well away from your location before resuming
outdoor activity.
