Warm, dry, and gusty northwest winds up to 20 mph will develop in the Cascade gaps and Waterville Plateau through the evening hours. Saturday winds will decrease in the Cascade gaps, but northerly winds down the Okanogan Valley onto the Columbia Basin 10-15 mph will occur. These winds will decrease through the afternoon hours. Confidence is growing that near record heat will occur Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday along with low daytime relative humidity and poor overnight recoveries. We will be keeping a close eye on how the hot ridge will break down. At this time, the forecast models suggest a gradual moderation of temperatures in the July 13 to 17 time frame.
