Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Nashville TN
110 AM CDT Mon Aug 12 2024

...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Tuesday)
Issued at 100 AM CDT Mon Aug 12 2024

The excellent weather we enjoyed over the weekend is going to
carry over into Monday. Although temperatures will be a few
degrees warmer than yesterday`s, we`ll still be slightly below
seasonal normals, and afternoon dew points will only reach the
upper 50s to low 60s most places. Tuesday should also stay rain-
free, but temperatures will return to seasonal normals, so our
"cool" spell will finally run out of gas.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday Night through next Monday)
Issued at 100 AM CDT Mon Aug 12 2024

Low rain chances will return to parts of Middle Tennessee Tuesday
night and Wednesday, but won`t become widespread until maybe
Thursday. Although high pressure will remain the dominant
weather feature at the surface, the upper-level pattern will
become more amplified toward the middle of the week as a strong
ridge develops over the Great Plains. This will create a northwest
flow aloft over Middle Tennessee, and the atmospheric models
suggest that a swath of higher moisture will ride down the NW flow
into Middle Tennessee, thereby providing some opportunity for
showers. As the upper ridge slides across the region later in the
week, a much more organized cold front looks to provide increased
chances for convection Thursday night and Friday. Temperatures
will level off close to seasonal normals for most of the upcoming
week and next weekend.
