163 FZUS63 KMQT 181940 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 340 PM EDT Thu Jul 18 2024 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS... A 30.2 inch high pressure currently centered over the Upper Mississippi Valley continues sagging south today, becoming centered over the Wisconsin/Illinois border by this evening. The high pressure expands eastward along the southern Great Lakes Basin tonight before falling to 30.1 inches Friday. A weak 30.0 inch trough pushes south over the lake Friday night into Saturday. More broad 30.1 inch high pressure ridging extends across much of the Upper Midwest and Upper Great Lakes Sunday. This is quickly followed by an additional weak trough at 30.0 inches that drops south across the Upper Great Lakes Sunday night and Monday. High pressure ridging of at least 30.1 inches looks to return over Lake Superior for Tuesday.
