752 AWUS83 KLBF 011542 RWSLBF NEZ004>010-022>029-035>038-056>059-069>071-094-012045- Weather Summary for Western and North Central Nebraska National Weather Service North Platte NE 1042 AM CDT Mon Jul 1 2024 /942 AM MDT Mon Jul 1 2024/ An upper level disturbance led to the development of showers and thunderstorms across the central and southern Sandhills, as well as southwestern Nebraska overnight. Precipitation totals were generally in the quarter to half inch range with some heavier amounts noted over Perkins, Frontier and Custer counties. Overnight lows were generally in the lower to middle 60s across the area. For today, skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy for most of western and north central Nebraska. The exception will be over far southwestern Nebraska where skies will be mostly clear. A warm front will lift into southwestern Nebraska later this afternoon and will serve as the focal point for thunderstorm development this afternoon. Highs this afternoon will range from the lower 70s around O`Neill, to the lower 90s at Imperial. Once storms develop this afternoon, they will quickly intensify, becoming severe. Large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are possible across southwestern into south central and central Nebraska. Activity will exit the area during the early overnight hours with partly to mostly cloudy skies expected. Lows tonight will range from the middle 50s in the northeastern Nebraska Panhandle, to the lower 60s in Central and southwestern Nebraska. $$
