In 1980, Wichita was torched by a temperature of 110 degrees, a record for the month of June. Right behind were the 26th and 27th with highs of 109. Wichita would break the 100-degree mark 46 times that summer. The heat was so hideous that from June 24th to July 20th highs reached or exceeded 100 degrees every day except July 2nd. Had the high on July 2nd reached 100 (it reached 98), then Wichita would have set a record for most consecutive days of 100 degrees or more with 27. In 1911, incredible as it may seem, Wichita recorded only a trace of rain during the month of June. This is the only time that the Air Capital had failed to record measurable rainfall during the month of June. In a very distant second for driest June was 1917, when 0.32 inch was measured. With an average temperature of 81.5 degrees, 1911 is Wichita`s 6th hottest June on record. $$ Auto
