...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1993, already extensive flooding took a turn for the
worse as 5 to 10 inches of rain inundated Harvey County
where the floods that resulted closed nearly every road
in the county.In Halstead, the Little Arkansas River
wasn`t so little as it certainly rose to the occasion
reaching what, at the time, was a record crest early on
the 14th.  Around 25 percent of the homes in Halstead
were flooded.  The flooding continued downstream, causing
around $10 million damage.
