.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

1) Isolated thunderstorms will diminish by early this evening
with high confidence for dry conditions most of this week.

2) An upper level ridge will bring hot temperatures by midweek,
with moderate to high (50 to 70 percent) confidence of a few
locations reaching triple digits on Thursday.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

Much of the lingering pop-up thunderstorm activity has initiated
near the North Dakota border so far this afternoon and will
generally remain there. The weak instability and elevated low-
level moisture will move eastward as an upper level ridge arrives
by Monday. Its most intense presence will be felt around
Thursday, with triple digits forecast for a few locations. With
very little heat so far this summer, heat safety will play a
crucial role this week more than usual. There is little indication
of any precipitation through the weekend, as the only caveat would
be isolated convection if the ridge begins to break down.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

Confidence is particularly high that upper ridging will yield dry
weather and a warming trend in the upcoming work week. Conditions
will be monitored for the potential of at least heat related
advisory products in the coming days.
