At 745 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms produced heavy rain in an area about 10 miles east of Young. Between 2.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly, with runoff flowing into Canyon Creek and Salt River Draw. HAZARD...Life-threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life-threatening flash flooding of low-water crossings, creeks, normally dry washes and roads. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Grasshopper Butte, Chediski Mountain, Chediski Peak, Cibeque Falls and Fort Apache Reservation. This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Spring Creek, Canyon Creek, Bear Creek, Oak Creek and Salt Creek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Flooding of washes and creeks will occur, some dirt roads will become muddy and impassable.
