A hot and dry weather pattern will persist across South Central Texas through the middle of next week. Minimum humidities remain above 30 percent over areas along and east of I-35, and fall into the 20s west of I-35. Some locally elevated fire weather conditions will be possible along the Rio Grande where the southeast afternoon breezes are elevated and the RH values could fall to 20-25%. The longer range models show the ongoing pattern persisting beyond this forecast likely through the remainder of August. As a result, grasses will continue to dry and may become dormant or cured. This may lead to increasingly common elevated fire weather conditions, especially across the Rio Grande plains.
