SOUTHEASTERN HUGHES...NORTHEASTERN LYMAN AND BUFFALO COUNTIES THROUGH 915 AM CDT... At 834 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms across southeastern Hughes county, northeastern Lyman county, northern Buffalo county, and southern portions of Hyde and Hand counties, moving southeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Fort Thompson, Lower Brule, Miller Dale Colony, Shelby, Stephan, Gann Valley, Sunshine Bible Academy, Crow Creek Housing, Tailrace Rec Area, Pleasant Valley Country Church, Counselor Creek Boat Access Area, Lake Sharpe, Etbauer Hill, Lees Corner, West Bend Rec Area, Danforth, Lake Francis Case, Crow Creek Reservation, and eastern Lower Brule Reservation. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
