Elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions are expected this afternoon across western New Mexico as very low humidity and breezy conditions are expected. On Sunday, critical fire weather conditions are possible across northwest New Mexico, while elevated to near- critical conditions are possible elsewhere across western and central New Mexico. Northwest winds will increase Sunday afternoon while more than 6 hours of single digit relative humidities develop. A strong backdoor cold front will race south and west Sunday night, replenishing moisture areawide. This will set the stage for an active week with daily rounds of showers and thunderstorms favoring the high terrain.
