THUNDERSTORMS WITH DANGEROUS LIGHTNING. RISK...Limited. AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing. DANGEROUS HEAT. RISK...Significant. AREA...Majority of Eastern Oklahoma and also West Central Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing. AREA AT GREATEST RISK...Eastern Oklahoma. DISCUSSION... Dangerous heat conditions will continue through early evening across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas with heat index values of 105 to near 115 degrees across much of the region. Also through sunset, isolated showers and thunderstorms will remain possible across portions of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. The greater potential for the isolated activity is forecast over far eastern Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas. Gusty to locally strong winds are the main threat, as severe weather is not anticipated. Storms should weaken and dissipated after sunset with the loss of daytime heating. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Dangerous heat and humidity will persist through most of the work week for eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Small shower and thunderstorm chances return Wednesday into Thursday, and increase Thursday night through Friday night as a cold front pushes through the area.
