The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Northern Lawrence County in southwestern Missouri...

* Until 1000 AM CDT.

* At 925 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles west of
  Miller, or 13 miles northwest of Mount Vernon, moving east at 40
  mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Mount Vernon, Miller, Chesapeake, and Red Oak.

This includes Interstate 44 between mile markers 49 and 57.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
