Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
359 AM MDT Tue Jul 2 2024

.Discussion...

An upper trough of low pressure across the northern Rockies will
keep the threat of convection in place across the district today
and tomorrow, as well as seasonal temperatures.

Drier air pushes into Colorado on Thursday as northwest flow
aloft begins to settle in. Slightly stronger winds combined with
dry conditions will produce near critical fire weather conditions,
especially across Fire Zones 220 and 222.

Friday will start off cooler as another cold front pushes into
the area. Then a warming and drying trend is forecast for Saturday
through Monday, increasing the potential for high fire danger.

Surface-based inversions will begin to break this morning between
0800 and 0900, with ventilation rates improving to Excellent for
the higher elevations, and Good for the eastern plains, by 1200.
Favorable smoke dispersion is anticipated until 200 this evening.
Similar ventilation rates and timing are expected for Wednesday.
