997 FXUS63 KOAX 171125 AFDOAX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Omaha/Valley NE 625 AM CDT Sat Aug 17 2024 .KEY MESSAGES... - Seasonal temperatures are expected with a small chance (30%) of showers and possibly a weak thunderstorm Sunday. - Another small chance of showers and thunderstorms late Tuesday into Wednesday. - Heating builds in late next week into next weekend. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 354 AM CDT Sat Aug 17 2024 Today and tonight: Mostly quiet weather will continue across the region today with light northerly winds and highs in the 80s. Some of the CAMS are hinting at a few pop up showers through the afternoon. Point forecast soundings show a dry layer in the low levels so a few sprinkles may be possible through peak heating. Sunday: Precipitation chances are expected to increase across central Nebraska late Saturday into Sunday as a weak shortwave dives southeast through the state. Bumped pops up a bit to a small chance (30%) across our western counties Sunday morning as some of this activity could extend east of Highway 81. A bit more cloud cover on Sunday could keep our highs down a few degrees from Saturday with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Next Week: Most of next week looks dry with the exception of Tuesday night into Wednesday as a weak shortwave drops south into the area. Heat looks to build into the region toward the end of next week and into next weekend as an upper ridge axis moves overhead. && .AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z SUNDAY/...
