...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Monday night)
Issued at 254 PM CDT Sun Jun 30 2024

No change is expected in the short term. Current satellite shows an
extensive cumulus field developing in the Davis Mountains with
scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the stronger cells
west to Van Horn and the Rio Grande. More of the same is expected
tomorrow as an upper level high pressure system over the Red River
Valley remains in place advecting seasonably hot air over the CWA.
Temperatures tomorrow will be near normal with highs generally in
the upper 90s to low 100s with overnight lows in the 70s.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday through Saturday)
Issued at 254 PM CDT Sun Jun 30 2024

There continues to be little change to the long term forecast
through Wednesday as an upper level ridge over the Southern US
continues to hold sway. Afternoon highs stay just above normal in
the upper 90s to low 100s. Lows remain in the mid to upper 70s as
breezy low level jets continue to provide warm, moist air from the
southeast each night. Pattern begins to shift heading into Thursday
as the ridge to the east begins to weaken and move eastward. Rain
chances begin to increase on Thursday as another ridge moves over
the Four Corners. Northwest flow around the ridge will bring
shortwave troughs into the region aiding in shower an storm
development. The Four Corners ridge strengthens for Friday and into
Saturday bringing temperatures down near or just below normal in the
low to mid 90s. Rain chances will not be very high, but as it stands
now, much of the CWA will have a chance for measurable rain.
Amounts remain uncertain and more details will be figured out
heading into the coming week.
