Those who plan to be, or must be outside are highly encouraged to monitor heat levels, take frequent breaks and stay hydrated, and to be aware and know the signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday Oppressive conditions will continue Wednesday and Independence Day. Afternoon temperatures will top out in the 90s to around 100 degrees. Maximum heat index values will range from 100 to 115 degrees. Heat headlines will likely be required. Chances of showers and thunderstorms will increase Thursday night into Friday as a cold front arrives from the north. Any severe weather will be spotty, with strong to damaging wind the main concern. Localized flash flooding is also possible. Many folks will be celebrating July 4th outdoors, and the weather is a major concern given heat, thunderstorms, and lightning. People are advised to play it safe and monitor conditions closely during the holiday. Slightly cooler, drier, and more seasonal air is in the forecast this weekend into early next week.
