...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT ELK...WILSON...WESTERN
MONTGOMERY...CHAUTAUQUA...WOODSON...GREENWOOD AND WESTERN ALLEN
COUNTIES THROUGH 345 AM CDT...

At 306 AM CDT, trained weather spotters reported strong thunderstorms
along a line extending from 7 miles west of Gridley to 5 miles north
of Cedar Vale. Movement was east at 45 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.

SOURCE...Kansas State Mesonet reported a wind gust of 52 mph at 258
         AM CDT about 14 miles northwest of Howard.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Iola, Eureka, Neodesha, Fredonia, Caney, Yates Center, Sedan,
Madison, Howard, Cedar Vale, Altoona, Moline, Longton, Elk City,
Toronto, Hamilton, Severy, Buffalo, Grenola, and Fall River.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

If on or near Elk City Lake, Toronto Lake, or Fall River Lake, get
out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember,
lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm.
If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by
lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water
in a thunderstorm.
