...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1980, a record 42 consecutive days of 100 degree plus
heat finally ended at Dallas Fort Worth Airport.
However, the D F W Metroplex would be torched by 19 more
days of triple digit heat in August 1980, of which 12
occurred consecutively from the 16th to the 27th.  The
hideous heat wave of 1980 contributed to around 1,200
deaths nationally and an estimated $20 billion damage.
