846 FXXX12 KWNP 031231 DAYDIS :Product: Forecast Discussion :Issued: 2024 Jul 03 1230 UTC # Prepared by the US Dept. of Commerce, NOAA, Space Weather Prediction Center # Product description and SWPC contact on the Web # http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/wwire.html # # Forecast Discussion # Solar Activity .24 hr Summary... Solar activity reached moderate levels due to an isolated M1.5 flare at 03/0741 UTC from Region 3730 (S18W64, Bxo/beta). Associated with this flare were a Type II radio sweep (1,254 km/s) and a CME off the SW limb at 03/0836 UTC. Analysis is pending as imagery becomes available. Region 3730 exhibited some decay and redevelopment over the period. Slight growth was observed in Regions 3729 (S05W19, Fai/beta-gamma) and 3733 (N05W22, Cro/beta). New Region 3736 (S18E74, Cso/beta) rotated onto the SE limb and was numbered. .Forecast... Solar activity is expected to be low over 03-05 Jul with a chance for M-class (R1-R2/Minor-Moderate) flares. Energetic Particle .24 hr Summary... The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at normal to moderate levels and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels. .Forecast... The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to continue at normal to moderate levels on 03-05 Jul and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to persist at background levels. Solar Wind .24 hr Summary... Solar wind parameters were at nominal levels with solar wind speed ranging from 315-428 km/s. Total field ranged from 1-5 nT with the Bz component between +/-3 nT. Phi angle was predominantly positive. .Forecast... Enhanced solar wind conditions are expected late on 03 Jul to 04 Jul due to the anticipated arrival of multiple CMEs that left the Sun between 26-29 Jun. Geospace .24 hr Summary... The geomagnetic field was quiet. .Forecast... Unsettled to active levels, with G1 (Minor) storm periods likely, are anticipated beginning late on 03 Jul and persisting through 04 Jul due to the arrival of multiple CMEs that departed the Sun between 26-29 Jun. Quiet to unsettled levels are expected on 05 Jul.
