.DISCUSSION...
Clouds and some showers are persisting over the S Interior and
across the Yukon Flats to Fortymile. Those break later this morning.
Thereafter, there is little to no change in forecast thinking.
This afternoon, southwest winds are on the increase to 10 to 15 mph
with 15 to 25 mph over the N Interior and Yukon Flats, gusting to
near 35 mph. High temps will be in the mid to upper 70s and minimum
RHs with widespread 30 % RHs, and some upper 20 % in the Yukon Flats.
Critical fire weather conditions will be fairly widespread, and a
red flag warning remains in effect for the N Interior zones.
It is also worth noting winds will not diminish much at all over
the N Interior tonight even after the Red Flag Warning ends at 10 PM.
On Wednesday, a stronger front is bringing southwest winds up
to 13 to 19 mph, with 15 to 25 mph gusting to 40 mph over the Yukon
Flats and N Interior. Even with temps around 65 to 70 and minimum RH
around the upper 30 % to mid 40 % range, critical fire weather
conditions will undoubtedly be in place given the strong winds. The
limiting factor will be increasing clouds and light rain developing in
the afternoon, although the Yukon Flats will likely remain on the
drier side.
Wetting rains remain low through Wednesday evening then increase
Wed evening, then wetting rain chances are high by Thursday late afternoon
and evening as the main slug of moisture moves inland. Wetting rain
chances continue through the entire weekend as temps are below seasonal
norms in this period, with no thunderstorm chances through Sun.
