...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of north central New Mexico, including the
  following counties, northeastern Los Alamos, south central Rio
  Arriba and northeastern Sandoval.

* WHEN...Until 530 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Dangerous flows
  over low-water crossings. Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 224 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream
    flooding. Between 0.4 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Espanola and Santa Clara Pueblo.
  - Drainages impacted include Santa Clara Creek, Arroyo de la
    Plaza Larga, Arroyo de Vayarequa, and Arroyo de Guachupangue.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create sudden and
dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings.
