Young, Chief Digital and Graphical Information Support Branch Subject: New Online Maps for NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards (NWR) Coverage and Tsunami Alerting Areas Along the Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and California Coastlines The National Weather Service (NWS) encourages the public and our partners to utilize redundant information sources, including NWR, to receive NWS alerts. Tsunami alerts broadcast over NWR include Tsunami Watches, Advisories and Warnings. NWS has generated maps of NWR coverage overlayed with existing tsunami alerting areas that correspond with NWS public weather forecast zones. These maps are available for the US Pacific coastlines of Alaska, Washington state, Oregon, and California and are online at: https://www.weather.gov/nwr/tsunami_alerting We encourage local authorities and jurisdictions and residents of these coastal communities to use these maps for emergency planning and preparedness. Similar maps are planned for the rest of the US states and territories in the Pacific Ocean, the US East Coast and Gulf Coast states, and Caribbean territories. General information about the NWR program is online at: https://www.weather.gov/nwr General information on the information and services of the U.S. Tsunami Warning System is online at: https://www.tsunami.gov/ For more information, please contact: Corina Allen NWS Tsunami Program Manager National Weather Service Headquarters Silver Spring, MD Email: corina.allen@noaa.gov National Public Information Statements are online at: https://www.weather.gov/notification/
