Subject: Weather Surveillance Radar-1988 Doppler (WSR-88D)
RDA/RPG Build 23.0 Beta Test to Begin the Week of August 18,
2024

Beginning the week of August 18, 2024, the Radar Operations
Center (ROC) will start the Build 23.0 Beta Test for the Radar
Data Acquisition (RDA) and Radar Product Generator (RPG).
RDA/RPG Build 23.0 will be installed at five WSR-88D sites
according to the following tentative schedule:

KCCX - State College, PA: Week of August 18, 2024
PAHG - Kenai, AK: Week of August 25, 2024
KRGX - Reno, NV: Week of September 8, 2024
KEVX - Eglin Air Force Base (AFB), FL: Week of September 15,
2024
KOAX - Omaha, NE: Week of September 15, 2024

Deployment of RDA/RPG Build 23.0 is scheduled to begin in late
November 2024.Highlights of Build 23.0 include:

- New supplemental low elevation angle for:
KDOX - Dover, DE:  +0.3 degree
KEVX - Eglin AFB, FL:  +0.3 degree

- New Long Pulse Volume Coverage Pattern (VCP) 34.  With VCP 34,
radar operators may implement one Supplemental Adaptive Intra-
Volume Low-Level Scan (SAILS) to provide more frequent low-level
updates.  Additional information on VCP 34 is available on the

- Multi-PRF Dealiasing Algorithm (MPDA) option for VCPs 212 and
215.  Radar operators will have the ability to use MPDA on the
lowest one or two elevations for VCPs 212 and 215 to improve
velocity data.
