452 FNAK52 PAFG 162319 FWFWCZ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western Alaska National Weather Service Fairbanks AK 319 PM AKDT Tue Jul 16 2024 .DISCUSSION...The same low pressure system that has lingered along the west coast for days gradually weakens and shifts southeast through Thursday. Scattered showers continue through that time frame, especially over the Y-K Delta where up to 0.50" of rain is possible through Wednesday evening. A few thunderstorms are possible across the western interior this evening and a lower chance Wednesday afternoon/evening. A weather front approaching from the northwest on Thursday may bring one last round of rain showers, but dry weather is expected behind the front as a prolonged period of ridging begins to build. This ridging brings mostly dry weather and above normal temperatures away from the coast where onshore flow keeps temperatures cooler late this week into next week. There is potential for the warmest temperatures so far this summer early next week.
