449 FNUS75 KSLC 121411 FWSSLC Spot Forecast for PONDEROSA Rx...USFS National Weather Service Salt Lake City UT 811 AM MDT Fri Jul 12 2024 Forecast is based on ignition time of 0900 MDT on July 12. If conditions become unrepresentative...contact the National Weather Service. .DISCUSSION...Hot and very dry conditions will persist at the burn site through the end of the week. Some cumulus buildups and high-based showers will be possible this afternoon mainly over the higher terrain to the east, with a small chance of affecting the burn site. Main impacts from any of these showers would be brief gusty winds to 40 mph. As moisture continues to increase into the area, could see isolated dry lightning activity at the burn site Saturday and/or Sunday (accompanied by a threat of brief, gusty microburst winds) before the airmass moistens enough to bring a greater chance of measurable rain by early next week, although wetting rain chances at the burn site remain on the low side. Otherwise, terrain-driven winds will be relatively light through Friday as high pressure drifts over the area, but may see some occasional afternoon gusts up to around 18 mph. .REST OF TODAY...
