593 FXUS64 KSJT 110847 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 347 AM CDT Thu Jul 11 2024 ...New SHORT TERM... .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 343 AM CDT Thu Jul 11 2024 Can not absolutely rule out a stray shower or storm this afternoon and evening somewhere across the area, but chances look even smaller than it did yesterday and coverage was very limited on Wednesday. Will leave the forecast dry for now and update later should convection actually develop. Otherwise, temperatures will remain pretty close to where they ended up on Wednesday and will stay pretty close to persistence for today forecast highs. && .LONG TERM... (Friday through Wednesday) Issued at 336 AM CDT Thu Jul 11 2024 A mid level ridge will stay situated over the western United States for much of the long term. Typically, this would put us in northwest flow aloft, but a little inverted trough is expected to develop to our southwest, allowing moisture from the Pacific and Gulf to move in for the weekend. Disturbances are expected to move throught the flow aloft, providing weak rain chances for Friday and Saturday. The coolest afternoon temperatures are expected on Saturday, as increased cloud cover helps to keep highs near or below normal. Highs on Saturday could be as low as the mid 80s, particularly for our southern counties where cloud cover will likely be more extensive. High temperatures for the rest of the long term will range anywhere from the lower 90s to near 100 degree. There is potential for additional precipitation on other days in the long term period, due to the more unsettled pattern we`ll be in, but confidence and coverage are low at this point. && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1217 AM CDT Thu Jul 11 2024 A few isolated storms southwest of KSOA have dissipated early this morning, with VFR skies prevailing. These VFR conditions should continue through Thursday. Southeast winds will prevail and will be occasionally gusty at time during daylight hours. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
