...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT
NORTHWESTERN ALLEGHANY...NORTHERN ASHE COUNTIES IN NORTHWESTERN NORTH
CAROLINA AND SOUTHWESTERN GRAYSON COUNTIES IN SOUTHWESTERN VIRGINIA
THROUGH 500 PM EDT...

At 435 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms over Piney Creek, or over Mouth Of Wilson. These
storms were nearly stationary. Other storms were developing just
west of Jefferson.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. Heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Runoff from heavy rain may flood
         roadside ditches and wash debris onto the highway.

Jefferson...
West Jefferson...
Independence...
Lansing...
Laurel Springs...
and Mouth Of Wilson.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
