Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western and Central Wyoming
National Weather Service Riverton WY

.DISCUSSION...

...Yellowstone NP and Teton dispatch areas (includes fire weather
zones 140...414...415...and 416)...

Hot and mostly dry conditions will prevail this afternoon and
through the weekend, leading to afternoon relative humidities
dropping into the 15 to 25 percent range. This combined with
westerly and northwesterly sustained winds in the 10 to 15 mph
range will lead to elevated fire weather conditions. There is a
small chance (20% chance) of an isolated shower or thunderstorm
causing 45 to 55 mph brief erratic wind gusts this evening. RH
recoveries will again be poor tonight for the midslopes due to
thermal belts. Zone 140 will see slightly better RH recovery
overnight, but still below normal.

...Cody dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 275...276...
282...283...285...286...287...288...and 289)...

Hot and mostly dry conditions will prevail this afternoon and
through the weekend, leading to afternoon relative humidities
dropping into the 12 to 20 percent range. This combined with
westerly and northwesterly sustained winds in the 10 to 20 mph
range will lead to elevated fire weather conditions. There is a
small chance (10% chance) of an isolated shower or thunderstorm
causing 50 to 60 mph brief erratic wind gusts this evening. RH
recoveries will again be poor (in the 25 to 40 percent range)
tonight for the midslopes due to thermal belts.

...Casper dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 277...278...
279...280...281...285...289...and 300)...

Hot and mostly dry conditions will prevail this afternoon and
through the weekend, leading to afternoon relative humidities
dropping into the 8 to 15 percent range. This combined with
westerly and northwesterly sustained winds in the 15 to 20 mph
range will lead to near-critical fire weather conditions. There
is a small chance (20% chance) of an isolated shower or
thunderstorm causing 50 to 60 mph brief erratic wind gusts this
evening. RH recoveries will again be poor tonight, especially west
of the Continental Divide.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds...
...Haines Index is high level Haines both day and night...
