SOUTHWESTERN KIOWA...NORTHEASTERN CROWLEY AND NORTHWESTERN BENT COUNTIES THROUGH 1030 PM MDT... At 948 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 9 miles south of Wild Horse Point, or 31 miles north of La Junta, moving south at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Blue Lake and Arlington. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
