Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NE Oregon and SE Washington
National Weather Service Pendleton OR
251 PM PDT Sat Jul 6 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR WIND
AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES OR610, OR611,
OR640, AND OR642...

.DISCUSSION...Red flag warning today is currently showing areas of
validation as winds begin to increase in Central Oregon and the
Southern Blues/Strawberry Mountains. This remains valid through
the evening, expiring at 9 PM. Thereafter, there`s a chance we
could see another round of slightly enhanced winds tomorrow, but
it doesn`t look widespread enough or nearly the magnitude today to
warrant another RFW. Relative humidities then remain significantly
dry through into next week with widespread single digit to teen
minimum values while fuels cook under triple digit heat. As the
ridge slowly progresses eastwards, by Wednesday a passing trough
to the northwest is expected to enhance the pressure gradient
locally. Models are starting to pick up on much more widespread
breezy conditions, and enhanced fire weather concerns are
beginning to mount. This will be the day to watch moving forward
from today.
