094 NOUS41 KPBZ 081542 PNSPBZ PAZ021-029-031-073-075-091545- PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT National Weather Service PITTSBURGH PA 1142 AM EDT Mon Jul 8 2024 ...Temporary River Forecast Change at Elizabeth Lock and Dam Starting July 10th... On July 10th, 2024 the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh will be changing from daily river forecasts (issued once a day) to high water (forecasts issued when the gauge is projected to reach "Action" stage or higher) at Elizabeth Lock and Dam (ELZP1) on the Monongahela River. This is in response to the planned demolition of the dam, which is scheduled to start on this date. The upper (pool) gauge will remain in service during the demolition but flow/discharge will no longer be measured with the changes anticipated while it is being removed. This will lead to some uncertainty in the river forecasts during this time. The plan would be return to daily forecasts once the pool is stabilized and flow can be reassessed. If there are any questions or concerns, please reach out to our Senior Service Hydrologist, Alicia Miller at Alicia.A.Miller@noaa.gov $$ 34
